Just wanted to take a few seconds and re-post an e-mail I received from one of our trading room users. Trading is a tasking business and can break even the most disciplined of person. I’m glad to see so many of you doing well and pushing forward — Cajun
“I have been in your trading room for about four weeks now. I have been very impressed with your calls, but more importantly, I admire your desire to teach and educate new traders.
I have been trading stocks and futures for 10 years. When I started, I paid a “guru” to make calls, and had great initial success. He ended up closing shop after the crash of 2000. Since that time, I have had some successful years trading on my own, and other years have been a struggle. For the past couple of years I have tried out other “guru” services, and have been most impressed with your room. But, I believe it would be a better room if you did not allow other traders to place calls. Besides newbies taking the call, and loosing, I feel that you are taking up precious time dealing with other traders instead of educating. I have been in many rooms that have not allowed calls from members and believe your room would be even better if you installed a similar policy.
Again, I appreciate your love of trading, and your desire to teach to others.
Thanks,
Brad Shepherd (brashs)”

I recevied the best x-mas gift of all. 2 days before Christmas a user e-mailed me who had just joined the room, and has the drive and discipline to start off in the right direction. I figured I’d post his e-mail here on the blog (below) for all you guys who may be down in the dumps or having a dry spell on your trading. Were doing great here at PureTick but obstacles in peoples life and a number of other things can cause even a profitable trading signal to turn south. Happy Holidays
—————————————————-
I found your site from a link on stock charts (where I
continued to watch the Canadian economy for my small mutual fund
portolio). This coupled with a brief conversation with a contractor on
exercise lead me to start seriously looking at your track record. I’ve
been watching since September and I’ve only had time to trial the trading
room last week.
Last week I manage to record the following;
Mon +$300 (reboots and learning the ropes)
Tues +$380
Wed +$460
Thurs +$700
Fri +$235 (all after commisions)
I know that’s not bad for a newbee but I lost alot of money on
overtrading and revenge trading (Friday I was in the hole $2300 in the
morning but rallied with $3000 in the afternoon). It took me some time
to adjust to the buzzer and I bought at market (read high) too many times
as well as fading the occasional room call. I was seeking to prove to my
wife that I could manage $500 a day to replace my current
income(taxes, medical, cost of living in this province) (and saught $1000 a
day to finally move out of this province the Army lead me to).
I know that I overpressured myself and did not always trade
disciplined, the problem with just about all newbs.
That being said, I still plan on attempting to return in September (if
I can find the money to start up/get the wife’s approval) as I should be
on 9 month parental leave for my fourth child in August. Hopefully I can
then learn to move my trading from a supplemental level to professional.
Your site is great though the learning curve can seem steep (thank God
I read up on some technical analysis for option trading).
Thank you Geoff, Alex and bearishtrader for your trial account. Thank
you for delivering exactly what you said you would (without trying to
sell useless products). Thank you for always being present during
trading and keeping a running commentary as the day went on.

Good Afternoon,
Here is today’s inspirational thought provoking from Alex from Pure Tick.com.
Are there times you should throw your trading rules out the window? Of course not. Or maybe? All rules were meant to be broken. Watch this edgy video regarding this topic during trading. Alex even reveals who he voted for.
The $29.oo 10 Day Unlimited Access Trial to the LIVE TRADING ROOM will be ending soon as our max user limit is nearing. If you wish to sign up for a trial then you may wish to do sooner then later.
Alex’s current trade entry accuracy to date is running 87.4%

Q: I still do not understand how you decide to stay in a trade or exit? I bail way too early sometimes only to watch the market (I will not chase trades) go another 10+ points then you guys take profit. I feel “dumbed down” when I capture 10 points and you guys say “that was a nice 25 point run. — Marco/MMTrader74
A: For those of you who remember the old video game QBERT you’ll recognize the frustration marks in the subject line of this blog. We have received a lot of questions from newbies on when to trail and when to bail out of a position in the futures market. Thank Marco, a user in our trading room, for the above e-mail inquiry.
I can tell you how *I* decide to stay in a trade or take a small 10 tick profit on the Dow E-Mini YM.
First, I will look at things such as the type of day we are in. Trending day or oscillation type like Bollinger Band/Keltner Channels being tagged? The strength of Alex’s filters and market internals such as NYSE advance declines. Are they hovering around 0 (indecision) or -2000 (in which case i’d definately trail any short!!) Have the ticks been biased to one side of the + or - scale or have they been choppy. Little things like that will help you see the true breath of the market. Use 2 or 3 or if your a member of the trading room. Go in a trade when the alert is BUZZED and exit when Alex says “I’m flat or I’m all out” Even if you have one contract. You could also just use your auto trail feature in your brokerage program or our Exit Assist program if you have eSignal or Trade Station. Also on days like OEX or FOMC it’s always a good idea to not trail your trades. I won’t trail on these days myself as a lot of games are being played in the market. All these things come with experience and time but we should be able to help you bypass a lot of time by stealing our experience and knowledge :)

Greetings,
A lot of you older Adobe Flash users have been having problems
viewing the videos on our web site. This is due to a bug in Adobe’s
flash plug in in conjunction with Camtasia.
I’ve applied a patch to all the videos on the server and you should
now be able to view them with no problem. Thanks for your patience

There is a lot of pessimism in trading and self doubt. Would like to just quickly share one of the positive email we got from the trading room. It’s hard to stick to a plan. Weather it be following that new low carb diet or taking your stops when your rules demand you do. Congratulations to everyone on alumni status and who has come out in that 10% of day trades who actually make it in this business.
>Hey Alex,
> Just wanted to let you know that since Andrea and I have been in the Pure Tick room we have made back close to $7,000. Thank >you for keeping us on the right side of the trades.

Greetings, Ha ok I was just kidding a bit with that subject but it made you LOOK. It’s amazing that losing traders want to hear about other traders failures and not their successes. In our live trading alerts room we have the most people DROP OUT on the days we make the MOST MONEY. Jealousy is a feeling best left at home and for cheating spouses! Now on with the original topic . . .
Mantis is one of our users who’s been a member of the PureTick trading room for 5 months now. He just sent me a nice positive complimentary email along with a capture of his P&L statement for Monday 1/14/2008. He was up over $400 using between 1-3 contracts on Alex’s calls yesterday. He’s agreed to let me post it on the site to give struggling newbies inspiration. Here is a screen shot of his Trade Station executions and P&L for yesterday.
Also–Just an FYI here. The trading room password has been CHANGED. Please log in to http://www.puretick.com/member to find out the new session lock word.

We were asked by a few users to record some of Alex’s official
calls in real time. Today CajunSniper recorded the official calls in the
morning. This will give traders a chance to go back and review the
action without the pressure of being in cash.
The markets are still volatile last week. Try not to get frazzled
by all the action. As usual, when in doubt stay out. Here are the links to the trading call videos we took Thursday (8/16/2007).
You will be able to see the trades unfold as they actually occurred.
For non-users, the ‘buzz’ sound you hear is the trading audio alert.

Today we took numerous great long plays off of the cluster support level around 13,402 on the Dow E-Mini YM contract. A cluster is just a level were multiple technicals are overlapping. They usually provide rock solid excellent support or resistance for high probability trades!
Also, trading can make you hungry. So why not try out a tasty Caramello. Don’t share it, especially with dames named Megan.

What in the world are some of you guys thinking! Sit back and ask yourself. Why did you join PureTick? Here are a few reasons I can think of:
Alex’s 82% success rate?
Live market commentary?
Consistent profits?
Education and advice?
So when clear solid advice is given in the trading room on a trade, why chose to ignore it. Imagine a guy who comes in to a restaurant. He orders, the food comes and then he refuses to eat it. Then he pays fully price and happily leaves. What was the point in wasting that money? This rant does not apply to all of our users. I observed a few traders in the room going maverick and totally ignoring Alex’s and my advice on Friday. It does feel good to do your own thing and to figure out the world and its nuances on your own. But why re-invent the wheel when it’s already working. Alex’s found a set of rules that work for him. It took him since 1970 and over $80,000 of lost capital. If you want to go through that journey then please continue disregarding sound advice and making decisions based on emotion. Please email me now and I will close your account. We’re here to teach you what works and severely lesson your learning curve.

EDUCATION
Anyone can pick an entry. Our ultimate goal is teach you to stick to your rules while learning to become a professional trader. So you’ll be trading your own account, on your OWN without any alert system or service. Education and money management is key. Why is it that one trader can enter the same trade as another and make money, while the newbie loses. Experience! Experience! Experience! Give Alex any indicator or entry system you want and he’ll make money with it. We’d all love to skip over that little hurdle! We can definitely help you shave months off your learning experience and keep you from blowing out your account. Please don’t take any signals you do not understand. Feel free to ask questions in the trading room. We’re here to help, not frustrate you.
JEALOUSY
Don’t give in to it! It is very frustrating for you to look at all the newbies and other traders making money in the room. And your sitting there diligently making nothing. So how do you think these newbies who like you started out losers are now becoming winners? Did they stay in the room and learn? Most definitely, yes. Was it easy? No! So stick around and learn a little more, keep a journal of your progress. You’ll get there.

Today HotComm released an updated to its conferencing software. It required a download that took about 30 seconds to install. The audio and video should be a lot more clear and network connections more stable. I see that about 20 of our room members decided that it was too cumbersome to install the update. This is where I yell at you and tell you how lazy you are. How are you going to make it in the cut throat world of trading if you can’t dodge little problems or obstacles that are thrown at you. Exert a little effort. Help me help you! I should not complain. These will be the same people in the market we take money from. Rant off.

Hello there,
Every day we get feedback from people who stop themselves out of winning trades. Or perhaps those who trade with no stops at all.
As you may know we constantly tell people to trade small and on a sim and learn.
And most just happily ignore all that, they ignore the videos, they ignore discipline etc.
The only hope for some is to train them for a week and yell and scream when they do something stupid.
Unfortunately we can not stop people from taking or not taking trades; I can not stop them from not doing their homework; I can’t stop them from making outrageous trading claims.
Each trader has his or her responsibilities.
We had some very good trades yesterday. The only one that lost big was Max Spann and we know over time it is very successful. The gap worked beautifully. And the only short that got stopped out was more than made up for by the trend line break long.
It is tough, as you can see when people blame you for their trading mistakes.
All we can do is reinforce the lessons.
